is a collective of eight artists working in a variety of media. Painting, ilustration, photography, woodworking, printmaking and jewelry. Our mission is to create a space allowing interaction and outreach to the art community.


> FIGURE DRAWING

 
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 7-9:30 pm.

Live, nude model, starting with 1-minute gesture sketches, then progressing to 5 and ten minute drawings. The remainder of the class will be either one long pose of an hour and a half, or two medium length.

Just bring your drawing materials and
we supply the rest! 


Just $10/ class and always just drop-in. No sign-up is needed.

Tuesday evenings offers instructed class time in addition to the drop-in. Cost is $75 for a block of 5 classes. Contact Mark for more details.

Based on the figure drawing sessions most artists are familiar with, this workshop will take you to the next level. You will have the opportunity to work from a costumed model and other props, giving artists and illustrators the benefits of using reference for a project.

> 1821 HUBBARD STREET LOFTS OPEN HOUSE AND PLATFORM STUDIOS SPRING SHOW! MAY 11TH!

Platform is having its spring show May 11th and is helping to organize the 1821 Hubbard St. Lofts Open House. We're excited because we have a bunch of new people at the studio who will be showing for the first time.
Savierio Truglia, Post Family, Gerda Meyer Bernstien, the Johalla Project, Tsubo,  and Spudnik Press will all be opening their doors.
The Tamale Spacship will be selling tamales in the parkign lot as well. More details soon!

The segment of "Breathing space on the OWN show "Super Sould Sunday" showcased our studio during a figure drawing session. Eight artists got together one saturday morning for the filming and here's the result!

INSTRUCTED FIGURE DRAWING CLASS TO BE OFFERED STARTING MARCH 6!

Are you looking to jump into a drawing class or have you been in the open drop-in sessions for a while and need a boost? Well, Platform is going to offer a five-week class starting on March 6th. We'll be going over lots of fundamentals to get you on the right track: proportion and anatomy, line quality, hatching, contour, composition and more. Class critique and individual critique with the instructor shall also be a valuable tool to get you on a good footing. Intermediate students are encouraged to attend as well to break out of some old habits and get a fresh look at your work.

We're throwing open the doors to 1821 Hubbard Street Lofts and giving Chicago a chance to explore the studios, galleries and art spaces that make this such an amazing place. Drinks, food and music will be  provided as you tour the steel-lined halls, discovering the magic that happens daily in this seemingly quiet building. Participating in the event are: Platform Studios, Spudnik Press, Saverio Truglia, Doug Fogelson, The Post Family, Gerda Meyer Bernstein , Tsubo Salon, Robyn Rachel Photography and Footworks Shoetique.
